Product Overview:

Advanced Performance and Durability

The Mercian Extreme bend combines popular features with new elements, including a thinned toe for 3D skills, flattened backhand zone for accuracy, 24.5mm bend, 2mm concave shaft, 4-degree face twist, and thinned handle. Available on CKF55, CKF85, and CF95 models.

The nano polymer resin creates a more flexible but stronger bond between the composite layers, increasing the stiffness of the sticks and reducing the risk of de-lamination.

Kevlar, a high-strength para-aramid synthetic fibre, is used in various applications including bulletproof vests due to its tensile strength. Tungsten carbide, a compound of tungsten and carbon, is twice as strong as steel. TCDK diffuses tungsten carbide through Kevlar, enhancing strength and durability.

The amount of carbon in a hockey stick is often questioned, but quality matters more than quantity. High-quality carbon from Japan, Germany, Scotland, and South Africa is preferred. Carbon fibers provide stiffness but can be brittle. Combining carbon with materials like fibreglass and Kevlar enhances strength and durability.

Fibreglass in hockey sticks is strong, less brittle than carbon, and forms a flexible, energy-absorbing base. Layered at different angles for multi-directional strength, it enhances performance when combined with carbon, Kevlar, and basalt. Mercian prefers a non-carbon base skeleton.

The final layer of lacquer on the face of the stick is mixed with fine grains of silicon polymer to create a texture which stops the balls spinning on contact. These tiny rubber particles 'squash' on ball impact providing a damping effect.

Piezo-electric fibres in Evolution sticks convert vibrations into heat, providing efficient vibration dampening. Active molecules in the material bend under force, emitting a small electric charge dispelled as heat. This technology, originally used in tennis, enhances stick performance.

The Evolution CKF55 is a 55% carbon model with the high-quality Toray carbon placed in multi-direction laminate sheets (creates strength in all directions) across a (30%) fibreglass skeleton and with integrated fibreglass laminates giving great touch and feel with the (15%) Kevlar increasing durability, stiffness and laminate bonding. This model is available in the Pro (low) bend (24mm @ 230mm), suitable for multiple skill sets and abilities.

Key Features:

  • 55% Carbon
  • Xtreme (low) bend (24.5mm @ 200mm)
  • Dual-process vibration control (Piezo-Electric fibres, M-Gel)
  • Nano-Polymer Resin
  • High Friction Face
  • Cold Touch Lacquer
  • White face model to disguise ball carrying position and release point when drag-flicking
